Have been using smokeless ashtrays for years. Some work, some dont, some last some dont, some are junk, some are a pain in the ass to use. Gone through about 10 different models and this one is heads and tails above the rest.
Pros: Quietest, filters last the longest, filters are cheap, filters catch the most smoke, batteries last for months of continous use, large capacity, nice appearance, the thing is made heavy duty and quality you can tell as soon as you feel it.
Cons: The wife still yells at me for not picking up my socks.

We just purchased this ashtray and have been using it now for about 1 wk. I have no problems to report so far at all; it does everything I was looking for. It's not noisy and batteries last (same batteries for a wk now). Takes 2 "C" batteries, which I buy the cheap ones and they are doing fine. Would recommend this ashtray for anyone wishing to eliminate smoke from the room; it definitely does that. Plan on buying another one here soon.

For the first month and a half, loved it!!! Then it started getting LOUDER! This is due to the sticky tar and miscellaneous build-up. However, I witnessed a friend of mine clean it (the bottom half) with just all-purpose cleaner. Spray or pour where the residue is (MUST take out the batteries first!!!) let it set for 15-30 min. rinse with warm water and any remaining residue can be cleaned with q-tips. Just like brand new! I recommend it and have purchased one for myself and one as a gift.

After using this smokeless ashtray I have junked the last 3 smokeless ashtrays I've purchased. This is the only one that is quiet and the only one that really makes a noticable impact on the smoke. I have been using it for almost a month and have not had to change the filters or the batteries! And it runs constantly! I don't have a clue what the 1 star reviewer is talking about her cigarette falling out. This thing has angled grooves and the cigaretts don't even come close to falling out. I did hear a bit of noise at one point but sprayed a drop of wd40 right into the fan and it silenced it immediately. 5 STARS couldnt be more pleased!

On this ashtray I found that the smoke needs to be actually in the canopy of the tray to work. Since when a person smokes the cigarret is not resting on the tray, and the smoke is bloun out of the smokers mouth/nose, and not near the ashtray itself; I found this item to be useles for me.
